Fest für Fußball-Freunde - Festival for Football Friends

Am Sonntag veranstalteten die Nürnberger Kirchen und Gemeinden gemeinsam ein Fest für Fußball-Freunde. Bei schönem Wetter kamen viele Menschen zusammen, um die unterschiedlichen Angebote zu nutzen. Das Serviceteam war zum letzten Mal im Einsatz (am Montag geht es zurück nach Kanada).

On Sunday the Nuremberg churches celebrated together a Festival for Football Friends. We had wonderful weather and many people came together and took part in the different activities offered. The service team had his last official mission before returning to Canada on Monday.

Kanadisches Abendessen - Canadian Meal

Am Samstag luden die Serviceteamler zu einem kanadischen Abendessen ein. Danke dafür. Es hat wunderbar geschmeckt, und auch das Feedback tat uns gut.

Letzte Stadtbesichtigung - Last sightseeing

Am Samstag besuchte das Serviceteam die Nürnberger Burg und die Lochgefängnisse. Unterwegs trafen wir einige nette Fußballfans aus Portugal.

Bewegender Abschied - Moving Farewell

Am Freitagabend nahm das Serviceteam Abschied von den Bewohnern der Einrichtung. Neben persönlichen Zeugnissen und Erfahrungsberichten gab es als Höhepunkt den Transport eines Kreuzes in den Versammlungssaal. Auf dem Kreuz kleben die Bilder vieler Bewohner.

On Friday evening the service team said good bye to the clients of the institution. We heard testimonies and personal experiences. Then team members and clients together transported a cross to the hall. On the cross there are a lot of pictures of the clients.

Am Donnerstag war große Party im kickoff-Café der Heilsarmee. Unsere Küchenmitarbeiterinnen Silvia Sala (Italien) und Rosa Krämer (Tschechien) waren entsprechend vorbereitet und wurden lautstark von den Anwesenden unterstützt.

On Thursday there was a big party in the kickoff café of the Salvation Army. Our kitchen employees Silvia Sala (Italy) and Rosa Krämer (Czech Republic) have been well prepared. The visitors supported them with a joyful noise.

Special Guest Canada

Am Donnerstagnachmittag gestaltete das Serviceteam einen interessanten und informativen Vortrag über Kanada und Bermuda, der auf gute Resonanz der Bewohner stieß.

On Tuesday afternoon the service team presented their countries Canada and Bermuda in a very interesting way. Many clients attended the meeting.



Die Neufundländer sangen natürlich auch ihre "Hymne".

Griechischer Abend - Greek Evening

Zusammen mit einigen Gästen vom Nationalen Hauptquartier (David Bowles, Carsten Dax, Ute Müller) besuchte das Serviceteam zuerst ein griechisches Restaurant (mit lecker Essen!) und schaute dann den Film "Hochzeit auf Griechisch". Es war ein schöner und entspannender Abend...

Together with some guests from the National Headquarters of the Salvation Army in Germany (David Bowles, Carsten Dax, Ute Müller) the service team went to a greek restaurant (gooooooood food!) and watched then the film "My Big Fat Greek Wedding". It was a nice and relaxing evening...

Kreativgruppe - Creative works

Am Mitwwoch waren die Damen des Serviceteams zu Gast im Catherine Booth Haus und nahmen teil an der Kreativgruppe.

On Wednesday the team ladies visited the Catherine Booth Haus for women and took part in a group which did creative works.

Mittwochs-Club - Wednesday Club

Die Männer waren zu Gast im Mittwochs-Club der 2. Etage und erlebten einen fröhlichen Nachmittag mit den Bewohnern.

The team men visited the Wednesday Club and had a pleasant afternoon with the clients of the 2nd floor.

Andacht - Devotion time

Wie jeder Tag begann auch der Mittwoch mit einer team-internen Andacht als Vorbereitung auf den Tag.

Wednesday, as every other day, startet with a devotion time of the service team to be ready for the day.

Special Guest Ecuador: Nina Koopmann

Als Einstimmung auf das Spiel Ecuador gegen Deutschland gab es einen interessanten Infovortrag über Ecuador. Nina Koopmann, Sozialarbeiterin im Sozialwerk Nürnberg, hat dort bei der Heilsarmee gearbeitet. Über 70 Gäste verfolgten mit großer Aufmerksamkeit die spannenden Informationen und Bilder.

To get a feeling for the match Ecuador vs. Germany, we had an interesting information afternoon about Ecuador with Nina Koopmann, social worker in the Salvation Army Nuremberg. She has spent some time in that country and worked there for the Salvation Army. More than 70 guests attended this meeting.

Enjoying Soccer without smoke and alcohol

Soccer fever in the Nuremberg Salvation Army: Every afternoon the kickoff café in the Gostenhofer Hauptstraße is open for fans from the quarter and from all the world. The team - among them 6 people from Canada and 1 volunteer from the Bermudas (see picture) - offers snacks and beverages and is ready for a talking to them. Cigarettes and alcohol are not allowed. The matches of the German team and matches in the Nuremberg Frankenstadium are transmitted live. Before the transmission there is often a culture or creative program.

Freunde - Friends

Am Montagmorgen war das Team in verschiedenen Bereichen der Einrichtung dabei: Kanadisches Frühstück im Frauenhaus, Japanisches Essen mit einer Gruppe Männer, Arbeitstherapie, etc. Neue Freundschaften entstanden...

Zeitreise - time travel

Am freien Samstag unternahm Team Kanada eine Zeitreise. Zuerst wurde das Barockschloss Weißenstein besucht. Dabei entstand auch das Bild mit Leon und dem Brautpaar, dem er kanadische Pins geschenkt hatte und dafür belohnt wurde. Anschließend fuhren wir zum Mittelaltermarkt bei der Burg Rabenstein und erlebten danach eine Burgführung. Zum Schluss beeindruckte uns noch die ausgelassene Freude der Ghanesen nach dem 2 : 0 gegen Tschechien.

On their day off on Saturday team Canada travelled through time. First we visited the baroque castle Weißenstein. There the picture of Leon and the wedding couple was taken, after he had given them a Canadian Pin. Later we visited the medieval market near castle Rabenstein and also the castle itself. Finally we saw the abundant joy of the Ghana people after their 2 : 0 against the Czech Republic.

Doppeltes Glück - Lucky and lucky again

Der Engländer John Smith hatte zweimal Glück. Erst gewann er zwei Eintrittskarten für das Spiel Englang gegen Trinidad & Tobago, dann am nächsten Tag eine Fußball-Leuchte im kickoff-Café der Heilsarmee. Er und sein Freund schauten herein, ließen sich von der guten Stimmung im Café beim Spiel Niederlane gegen Elfenbeinküste anstecken und blieben bis zum Ende. David Cole hatte die Möglichkeit, sich ein wenig mit ihnen zu unterhalten.

John Smith from England was two times lucky. First he won two tickets for the match Englang vs. Trinidad & Tobago, then a football lamp in the kickoff café of the Salvation Army. He and his friend looked in, got the feeling of the match Netherlands vs. Ivory Coast and stayed until the end. David Cole had the opportunity to talk to them.
